Constructive Engagement with Government

ACCTA seeks to engage constructively with Canadian government departments responsible for international trade regulation. This includes dialogue with agencies such as the Canada Border Services Agency.

Our goal is to support policies that:

  • Promote effective compliance
  • Improve regulatory clarity
  • Recognize the role of independent trade advisors
  • Facilitate efficient international trade

Trade Chain Partnership

ACCTA strives to act as a collaborative partner within Canada’s customs ecosystem.  We support initiatives that  strengthen compliance frameworks  and  enhance cooperation between government and industry.

Protecting the Profession

Where policy decisions unintentionally or unjustifiably affect the legitimate activities of customs trade advisors, ACCTA will act as an industry advocate. Our association is committed to ensuring that the professional services provided by our members remain recognized, protected, and respected within Canada's regulatory framework.

Our Approach

ACCTA seeks to act as a constructive trade chain partner wherever possible.

However, the association also recognizes the importance of ensuring that policies affecting the customs trade advisory profession are developed in a manner that respects the legitimate role of independent advisors. Where necessary, ACCTA will advocate strongly to protect the ability of our members to serve Canadian importers effectively.

Policy Focus Areas

Key areas of interest include:

  • Post-importation adjustment frameworks
  • Import compliance program policies
