About ACCTA

 The Association of Canadian Customs Trade Advisors (ACCTA) is a newly formed Canadian non-profit industry association established to represent the interests of independent, non-broker customs trade advisors. 

Purpose

ACCTA was created to bring together 

Canada's leading independent customs trade advisory professionals into a unified voice.

Association Promotes

  • Professional recognition of customs trade advisors
  • Constructive dialogue with government regulators
  • Protection of the advisory profession’s legitimate role in the customs ecosystem
  • Improved policy outcomes for Canadian importers 

ACCTA Members

ACCTA members include professionals from: 

Accounting firms, International trade advisory firms, Customs consulting firms, & Law firms specializing in customs and trade law.  All members share one defining characteristic, we are not customs brokers. Instead, we provide independent advisory services to importers requiring specialized expertise in complex customs & regulatory matters.

Members Collective Experience

  • Hundreds of years of professional experience
  • Extensive operational experience working with customs authorities
  • Deep expertise in Canadian import & export compliance frameworks
  • Significant experience engaging government on policy development

Our Role

Canada’s Customs system relies on collaboration between multiple stakeholders, including importers, logistics providers, customs brokers, and government regulators. ACCTA represents the critical advisory layer that helps importers manage risk & ensure compliance 

with Canadian customs laws administered by 

the Canada Border Services Agency.

Our Mission

  • Organize the customs trade advisory profession in Canada
  • Improve communication between advisors and government regulators
  • Protect the legitimate role of independent trade advisors
  • Promote policies that support fair and efficient trade compliance
